The Day

Can you hear the parrot stories,
Of the day the world was mine?
Did you see Godiva riding
Bareback and naked through London,
Creating a racket in the underground?
This day is forever,
Lived again and again,
Yours and mine and everyone’s.
My wish for you is to live
Like a star, to have the time of your life.
This day is heralded
By you and me
As we realise impossible dreams
That took a thousand hours
To glimmer into reality.
Don’t look back before this day.
Stay with me on this day, forever,
Until we’re dead and gone.
