A Home in Nerdfighteria

Every Tuesday on Nerdfighteria Island,
We ask “Who the eff is Hank?”
For Pizzamaster John to remind
Us that he’s an anglerfish the size of a tank

Patrolling the colour-splashed seas
Around our home. Together they protect
The herds of puppy-sized elephants, bringing peace
To a land of mutual love and respect.

In its darkest corner, the evil baby orphanage
Ensures the survival of mankind everywhere,
Raising tyrants to live without ruthless carnage
So that they might find happiness, and are

Living for the state of this infinite universe
Which has no edge. Staring at stars
And looking for faults is the ultimate curse
Of those who feel to look too far

To find some joy, not suited to paper towns
Or to the anglerfish songs of Wizard Rock,
Or to looking for Alaska, wearing only frowns
And forgetting everything of which they can take stock.

The island is many things, forever,
A place for intelligent conversation and fond
Memories that we know will never
Be forgotten by dearest Hank or Pizza John,

By the Katherine or the Yeti,
Or by Henry and young Alice,
Sung about my Lemon and Willie,
And a million others, names written in ice,

Little snowflakes freezing the monumental
Memories in place, over mountains and about
The seas, preserving a truth fundament,
That this island-star won’t go out.
