Consequences of Time Apart

It feels like after all this time
That we spent apart,
That nothing new can fix us
Or a weary broken heart.
No matter how hard I try
To keep us going on,
It feels like nothing’s going right,
Like our love has gone.
And while I’ll keep trying
To keep us going to the end,
I fear that life will throw too much
Against which I can’t defend,
Until the months break me down,
Crying goodbyes to my best friend.
