I Tried

I tried to tell you who I was
And who I hope to be,
But all of that was for naught
When you wouldn’t talk to me.

I tried to hold on tight
As I waited day by dad,
(For some sign you’d get in touch)
And I hoped I had something to say.

I don’t want to fight because of this,
I just wanted to make a call,
To check how things were going,
To chat with you, that’s all.

I tried to keep it together,
But there’s some things we can’t hide,
So I’ll be honest and say I’m struggling,
And hope you never lied.
